I attended Appalachian State University for both my Undergraduate Degree in History, Social Studies Secondary Education and my Master's Degree in Higher Education with a concentration in Community College and University Leadership. Before working in the Center for Career and Professional Development, I taught High School Social Studies for four years while also coaching Swimming. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors hiking, camping, snowboarding, or taking pictures of natural scenery. I also enjoy swimming for both fitness and for my mental health. I enjoy taking the time to read both for fun and to learn more about current issues within Higher Education to serve students better. I strive to work towards more sustainable programming with career development, college access, student retention, and financial literacy skills for marginalized students such as students of color, students of low socioeconomic status, and students within the LGBTQ+ community.
