My name is Dean Burke and I have a distinguished and extensive career spanning over three decades. A graduate of Hudson Valley Community College and the prestigious Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my current role as Sr. Program Administrator at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and its Center for Career and Professional Development, where I manage the Job Location and Development Program. In this role, I am committed to fostering community engagement and building local employer partnerships supporting professional development and career opportunities for RPI students.
Prior to joining RPI, I dedicated 28 years of my professional career to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), serving in the Albany Field Office and FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC. Throughout my tenure, I held numerous leadership positions that showcased my versatility and commitment to excellence. As a National Program Manager, I managed the FBI’s national foreign language program, overseeing operations in 56 field offices and coordinating services for 35 different foreign languages. Additionally, I managed the local foreign language program in the Albany Field Office, supervising a team of 15 employees and contract linguists. While serving as a Program Manager at FBI Headquarters, I was actively involved in recruiting at universities in the DC area and throughout the country, building the Bureau’s talent pool and fostering relationships with academic institutions at the national level.
Beyond my expertise in managing foreign language programs, I also served as the Community Outreach Manager, Photographer, and Drug Deterrence Program Manager. My multifaceted role within the FBI highlights my ability to adapt and lead in various capacities. Notably, I was a key member of the FBI Director’s National Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Board, earning recognition for my significant contributions to DEI initiatives at the national level.
